Hays CISD Fighting Fentanyl

During the summer of 2022, the communities in Hays CISD began to see an increase in overdoses, poisonings, and deaths related to fentanyl. Illicitly manufactured fentanyl is often the ingredient used in counterfeit pills purchased on the street – sold as something else like Xanax, Percocet, or oxycodone. Quite often, in cases involving fentanyl, people who take the drug have no idea they are taking it. In the drug trade, fentanyl is a cheap alternative to other synthetic opioids and it takes so very little to kill.

Sadly, during the summer and first week of school in 2022, four Hays CISD students died from fentanyl poisoning, or suspected poisoning. Additionally, students have overdosed on the drug both at school and at home. Given the direct effect on our school district and our students, Hays CISD has committed to keeping the fentanyl conversation open and ongoing.

Hays County Campus Crime Stoppers

By guaranteeing a caller's anonymity, Campus Crime Stoppers allows the caller to give information in a positive, anonymous atmosphere without the prospect of retribution. By offering cash rewards for information leading to arrests, the program encourages otherwise reluctant callers to provide information. Calls are received at the Hays County Crime Stoppers tips line (1-800-324-8477). This phone line does not provide caller ID, and conversations are not recorded. The Crime Stopper Law Enforcement Coordinator/SRO receiving the information completes the tip information form, makes initial inquiries, and then passes the information to the appropriate campus/officer. Hays County Crime Stoppers is proud to have Campus Crime Stoppers programs at Hays High School, Johnson High School, and San Marcos High School.

Outsiders Anonymous Gym

Outsiders Anonymous was birthed through pain, and created through suffering. Not only do we know what you are going through, but we've also traveled the path and are here to help light the way. Traditional therapies and groups helped us, but we also found #freedomthroughfitness.

That's why we created Outsiders Anonymous - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of providing free fitness training and an awesome sober community to help you run from relapse and lift you into a life worth living.

There is certainly science to back up our mission, and we are doing our part to further our understanding of how fitness impacts recovery through research.

We understand that life's challenges can sometimes become overwhelming, and seeking support is a courageous step toward achieving balance and well-being.
